"Like I always say, there's no 'I' in "team". There is a 'me', though, if you jumble it up" -David Shore, House M.D.

So the first week of my poker year (I quit my job at the end of Jan) went by without a hitch, but without a profit appearing either unfortunately. Did make a few great calls on the tables, but also made a few horrible ones, so not quite ready to jump into the $100/200 game. Just need to get back into the swing of things and start getting in some 30 hour minimum weeks and soon I figure I'll be back to holding my own and doing some damage once again on the tables. It's always tough getting back to work after a holiday, but I daresay it's far tougher if you don't have a boss or even colleagues to watch you take up the slack.

Apart from poker, this year I also hope to drastically improve my abilities in Wing Chun kungfu, which I started again last summer and plan to practice hard and often over the coming months. This practice hasn't started yet, but I'm still waiting for my shoulder strain to stop niggling me. Soon as I am fully recovered, I'm going to try and hit it pretty hard. Given that the key to getting good at something really is as simple as practicing more than the competition, I don't see why I shouldn't be at the head of the class by the end of the year. After all, everyone aside from my coach has a real job, so I should be able to put in far more time than they can!

Anyway, gotta go now, my lesson starts at 8. Holiday pics coming soon, stay tuned....
